Cool New boat owner help

Hello all, I am going to look at a maxim 2400 on Saturday, it is a private seller and the boat is a 1999. I have just moved from the UK to California, never owned a boat before but would love to buy this one. Can anyone help with info that I should ask for, what to look for, what I need to do etc etc. thanks for you help and patience with me.

Welcome aboard

Since this all new to you I recommend you hire a surveyor to inspect the boat.

Basic condition, check for rot (wood structure covered by fiberglass), signs of water in gear lube, health of engine.

All great ideas from Mike.....

On your part.... take a safe boating course and do it in a class not online.

Enjoy

Check stringers with a hammer and listen for the dull thud that would indicate rotted wood stringer. also check compression on each cylinder.
Surveyor is a good idea and he will check some of those things.
definitely get a sea trial before you pay a surveyor if possible.
