Default Ah! Boat Ownership: Joy and Stress!

Just took ownership of a 2001 2100 SR 2 with 5.7 250 Mercruiser. She's in great shape and we are beyond excited to enter into boathood. Bought her from a broker who knew the two previous (and only) owners. This broker sold the bought on both occasions. 384 hours but all were from the first owner. Second owner only put around 20 hours. Grew up on boats but this is our first ownership. Thank you all in advance as I know I will picking your brains repeatedly.

Question about the bilge pump...
While out on the lake yesterday, turned on the bilge pump. Couldn't hear it come on and no water came out. Again, we were on the lake with family noise and radio playing. Should we be able to hear it come on?

Question about radio...
Came with a JVC removable face am/fm cd player. When face is attached, unit comes on, but no sound from speakers. Broker said it had worked two days prior to us purchasing. We've tried repeatedly to get it to work since bringing boat home, but to no avail. Are we missing turning something on? Broker is going to split the cost of a new unit with us so isn't life or death, but if we could get the original to work, we could hold off on that expense as we would like to install dual battery.

Welcome aboard

The bilge pump is not too loud so if a noisy crew onboard you may not hear it.

As far as not pumping any water, was there any water in the bilge to pump?

Are you trailering the boat? If so should not be water in the bilge.

My JVC has an attenuation button that basically mutes the speakers. On mine it's on the upper left hand face.

Bilge pump, check. It works.

Radio, no go. Nothing I have done can get it to work. Saw the attenuation button, but it says ATT when it is on and goes off when off. Still no sound in speakers. I got underneath the steering column and looked at the back of the radio. Noticed a fuse at the back of the stereo mount. Wondering if this could be the issue. Then I am thinking when a fuse blows, there is a reason. Hmmm...

Not sure what that fuse is for. I would think if the radio is turning on its fuse is good.

I guess either the preamp in the radio is bad or all the speakers are blown.
