Default Trailer Tongue Ladder Project

I just replaced the wheel stand on my 2004 Maxum 2400 SE trailer and had an idea for reusing the old mount.

I disassembled and cut up the old Fulton stand so I could use the mounting bracket. I spent $30 for some 4x6x12 rectangle stock that I cut in half lengthwise and then notched. I inverted the notched scrap under the step to give it more strength. I had some old 2.5" receiver stock from an old rotisserie project and welded that to the Fulton mount. I let it sit against the winch and then lined everything up so it can move when I winch but share the weight with the pin. I then disassembled everything, ground the edges and had my guy powdercoat it silver.

I got it back tonight, cleaned the old hardware, assembled it and then went to Home Depot to get four trailer step pads for $15. I used the misc pad pieces to keep it from rattling against the winch stand.

I spent $85 total and three hours and I now have a nice step to board from the front. It moves two notches so I can winch or climb and it looks like it came with the trailer. Cool.
