Default How do I get carpet over seat post??

First post, just bought our first boat...2004 2700 SE.

When we bought it, the cockpit carpets were unsnapped and removed. I have now cleaned them but cannot, for the life of me, figure out how the carpet under the rear table/longer area goes down.

There are two holes in the carpet. One is obviously for the table post and the other has to be for the rear bench seat hinged leg on the port side of the seat. This leg is hinged on the floor and under the seat so that the seat folds up along with the engine hatch.

I'm sorry, I don't have a pic with me but anyone who knows this boat, I assume, would know the hinge I am talking about.

So, how the heck do I get the leg through the carpet hole? I tried to figure out if/how the floor hinge lifts off the floor but no luck. I could disassemble the hinge on the seat underside but it can't be designed to do it that way. If the carpet snaps in and out, it has to be more simple than pulling out tools for the seat leg hinges.

Thanks in advance!
