Finally got around to this today. Hooked the battery to a jumper cable and touched it to the positive terminal of the starter...... sparks flew like crazy..... but she died right up! Any idea what else this could be now?

Not sure what you mean by she died right up. Did the starter spin? If yes did it turn the motor over? If no to the first question try removing the starter and again use the jumper cables to see if it will turn.

Sorry.... she fired right up..... the starter spun..... the flywheel engaged.... she even danced a little from the pistons moving. I. Don't know what to do from here though.

Sounds like a fuel issue. One way to verify is to spray a little starting fluid into the carburetors once it starts to see if it stays running longer. Note don’t spray too much or too long as the fluid will remove the lubricating oil from the cylinder walls causing scoring.

I don't know if it is a fuel issue as the flywheel engages when I jump the starter....but yet nothing happens when I turn the key, so that tells me that there is an issue somewhere between the ignition and the starter.

I might just take apart the control box and have a peek inside...IDK....Eventually I want to run new wiring to the motor anyways, especially since the boat has an ignition right on the drivers console, and I would rather utilize that anyways.
Regarding what you said though, I may just still try that anyways just to see if she keeps running after jumping the starter....because if I can get that to happen, I will be so much farther ahead with a motor than I have ever been. LOL

Got 2 new stringers cut out of 2 half inch ply boards glassed together. The template that I used made these look questionable. Once the glass is ground down, I will slap them in the boat and see how it looks and make adjustments as needed.

Hello everyone!!! Got back out here today and worked on the new bones. Used old 2x4s to hold them steady and fileted them in......tabbed one side in with 2 layers of 1708 over the filets. Was able to remove the 2x4 braces and was even able to test them with a spare piece of marine plants! Gotta say I'm happy with the results!!!!

Ran into a bit of a road block.....I went back to the fiberglass guy here in town to see if her could sell me some more products, and he refused to do so as he is getting out of the business of selling products to individuals.....He did however reference Express Composites as a good alternative company who can get me what I want and that the website is super user friendly.... Anyone have any experience working with them? I checked the site out and could not find 1708. They did however have a butt load of products including 1808, but I am unsure if that is anything similar. Is there another product that is similar to 1708? Looks like for a 5 gallon pail of resin, 5 yds of csm, 5 yds of 1808 and a bucket of cabosil, I will have to pay just over 430.00 for everything including shipping....which is less than what I can get all that stuff for off Amazon.... I guess that isn't too horrible.


Thoughts?

Progress is slow... but it's still progress. I finished fileting in the stringers yesterday and tabbed in ½ of the outside of the starboard stringer. I hadn't been noticing that my resin is kicking alot quicker than normal. Could this be because of the age? Either way....I think it's safe to say that it's time for new resin because I'm at the bottom of the tub and the resin inside has so many hard bits floating around inside. I ordered some new products from express composites as they seemed to have the best bang for my buck. I checked with other suppliers but i liked these guys the best. I was originally going to order another 5 gallon tub but the shipping provider says 5 gallon tubs are considered hazardous material and charge extra...... so for the same price....I was able to buy 5 one gallon tubs...... that aren't deemed hazardous. I got 5 yards of 1808....5 yards of csm....5 gallons of resin.....50 measuring cups and an mekp measuring dispenser... and one other item I believe..... all in all it was just over 500.00 shipped. Will do what I can with that I've got today but until that resin arrives..... I'm limited on my glass work. I did start making templates for new bulkheads so I might work more on that today.

Question.... do I filled them onto bare wood stringers now and glass in a one whole unit..... or do I wait till the stringers are glassed and then put them in so there's a layer of protection between the joints if the bulkhead ever gets saturated???

So gotta say that I was able to enjoy the boat in a different capacity last night. I was able to clean up alot of old wood and old bulkheads from the construction and deconstruction of her and enjoy them in my fire pit! Lol

I think that you can do it either way, what’s important is that the two are tied together with a strong bond.

I assume those pressure treated 2x4's are acting as a form? I would expect to see at least two bulkheads between the stringers. They should go all the way to the hull and be tabbed in with fiberglass and resin.

Sorry. I thought I said somewhere in there that I was only using the 2x4s as a temporary place holder. Those were there to hold the stringers upright while I filleted them in. They have since been removed and I will be working on putting 3 bulkheads in....1 will be about 8 inches forward of the last one to give me some extra working room in the bilge if need be to have more access to the fuel tank hoses and the bilge pump itself. I was not a fan of how cramped it was before. It may also give me extra ability to have some sort of elevated storage back there. The fuel tank will go in and be resting up against that bulkhead. The 2nd bulkhead will go against the front of the fuel tank to encapsulate it in. The 3rd bulkhead will be put in at the end of the stringers to create the ski locker.
