I tell ya what......Rent just got jacked up 200.00. That's an increase of 400.00 in 3 years. Having extra money to spend on this boat just got even more difficult.����

Got out there the last 2 days and worked on puting the motor back together and trying to get it to run and also worked on the inside end of the transom. Got pb and csm laid down back there... looks horrible..... but it'll be hidden.....so whatever.... The resin started kicking within 10 min so I used less mekp but that batch still kicked within 10 min.... lost 2 cups of resin due to this.... it's getting dark so I'm gonna call it quits for another 2 weeks.

While your fiberglass work may not be to your standards it’s still better than most of the factory work. Regarding the outboard, when you try to start it does the starter gear engage the flywheel or absolutely nothing happens at all? The two black wires are ground but if the two things you pointed to already have a Good ground then it should matter. Have you tried applying 12V directly to the starter to see if it spins and the gear engages the flywheel and turn the engine?

Absolutely nothing happens. I have not connected the battery Straight to the starter yet. That's a good idea.

Only do for for a few seconds so you don’t damage the starter.

I think you mean the control box. One with throttle and shift lever and well as ignition switch. The only power supply is the battery.

Nope.. I mean the battery. In order to test the starter, I will need to unhook the positive and negative power cord terminals from the engine, and hook them up to the starter. Isn't that what you were referencing when you mentioned applying 12v directly to the starter?

Yes. You should be able to leave the negative connected and only use a jumper to the starter terminal from the positive.

So I had a few minutes to tinker with the engine noise last night. Turns out that the constant noise must have been a low oil alarm. I added some oil to the engine and the noise stopped. Still haven't been able to get the time to tinker with the starter too much. I was kind of hoping that the low oil alarm was a failsafe that also kept the engine from starting....but still nothing happened when I cranked the key after reconnecting the starter��

Inside of the transom is fully completed!! Took more resin than I care to admit and i provably over did it but I feel 100% positive that it is fully water tight in there! Took some extra pb and fixed up the inconsistencies with a brick mortar spreading tool... actually made quick work of it instead of spreading it with a popsicle stick. Going to continue using that or at least something larger. 1 layer of csm and 1 layer of 1708 and I am done with that thing!!!!! Now onto patching up holes.... filling in the gaps and making new stringer templates as I've decided to raise my deck up a couple inches so the entire deck spans the entire width of the boat. Instead of just to the inner grooves.....I will fill those grooves in with pb.

Be aware that raising the deck also raises the center of gravity and with a boat of this size it will want to roll side to side further and more easily. Remember all weight on the deck gets raised, deck, seats, passengers, gear. This is hundreds of pounds in total.

Copy that......I will look further into if it is feasible. I may just elevate the deck in the back of the boat then. I only want it elevated so when I create my casting deck in the back. the pieces that fold forward and backwards are nice 90 degree angles. If I risk tipping the boat just to get an aesthetically pleasing look and easier shapes to cut, then I might just take the hit and keep the deck at the lower level.
