Default 2000 Maxum 1900 SR First Time Boat Owner

Hey folks. DMV area here. I picked up a Maxum 1900 SR.

I've always loved boating I tend to rent them but never owned one. It's a little overwhelming. But I got the boat and trailer for $250 from OfferUp. The seller buys from an impound lot when things go to auction.

Quite frankly, he wasn't the sharpest tool I mean the trailer alone is well over $250. He nor I know anything about boats. I know basics of driving them but that's about it.
Judging by the other crap he bought at auctions I saw, the boat was a steal.

The boat appears to be in excellent condition. Outside of a couple torn seats and the deep interior cleaning required from sitting for years the engine looked clean. I'm sure it will need a battery, tune up, oil change and filters. Oh and a new Ignition since no keys came with it.

So, I will probably be here asking a lot of questions. Look forward to meeting the gang.

Welcome aboard!

If it’s been sitting for a few years the fuel is probably bad and should be drained and disposed of. I’m assuming this is a I/O so the bellows may need replacing. Other item that may need replacing are the impeller, exhaust manifold and elbow. Under Documents you will find the Mercruiser manuals for the engine and drive, get familiar with them.

I appreciate the great info. For the bellows I assume I'm looking for leaks?

There are three bellows. The largest protects the drive shaft u joints and gimbal bearing but yes water will seal past the bearing into the bilge. The nest largest is the exhaust bellows this one will not result in a leak. The third one is small one on the shift cable and will result in a leak into the bilge.

Got it (I think) I appreciate the info. I will take your suggestions and start my research.
