Default Massively revamped boat stereo… :D

Got tired of going to “party cove” and getting outdone. So the girlfriend and I spent the weekend doing a little stereo overhaul
2-3 way Bazooka 6x9 rated at 80 watts RMS
2-2 way Bazooka 6.5 rated at 80 watts RMS
2- Audiobahn Immortal 12’s rated at 2000 watts RMS each
1-DB Drive PLATNIUM SERIES CLASS AB AMPLIFIER (PA475) 4 channel @ 75 conservative watts per 4 channels.. for the 6x9 & 6.5’s
1- DB DRIVE PD2000.1 PLATINUM SERIES CLASS D 2000 WATT MONO with remote gain for the 2 -12’s
2- Caterpillar D4 Battery - DES 12 Volt rated at 200 amp hours each. I'm told by reliable sources they are the equivalent of about 3 yellow tops EACH

Guess the pics tell the rest…. Just thought I’d share. The wood and fiberglass reinforced wells in the foot area are about 2.5/3 cubic feet each and I never used them because they suck to get at. After the 12’s are fully installed the removable covers will be sealed.

I Still have 1 more 12 to install and the covers to protect….then to wire the mess up.

Before shot, look at the walk through....

Darren did you say something? I can't hear a bloody thing, someone is blasting music

Nice install but aren't the speakers shown in the last few shots in a kick zone? i.e. folks can accidently kick then when moving around the boat.

Good observation and good question…. Yes they are and I considered that.

Please reference the extremely heavy duty billet aluminum cover with rounded edges, to be easier on the toes
If I got a completely vertical shot of that area you wouldn’t be able to see the 12’s at all, the padding in that area just above deflects your leg away from the sub, but in case that’s not enough the ¼ inch thick aluminum cover should do the rest . The smaller 4 inch black thing is just a port; they can kick that as much as they want

Nice, hope it works out as you planned.

BTY: where are you mounting that massive battery? Hope you can find a spot that won't through off your trim.

I considered that as well.. that battery is a monster.
The subs weigh 70 lbs each = 140 in the front
The battery weighs 151 in the starboard rear….. I also have (and have had) 2 group 29 deep cycles on the port side. The entire boat may sit a little lower but I’m hoping it’ll come on plane about the same.

Sounds like you have balanced out the weight distribution pretty well, just remember to deduct this from you total weight carrying capacity when inviting friends aboard and their gear.
Don't let those subs go to your head or he next project you'll be posting is how to reinforce the boats elements, windshield , seats, ... ;-)

The fish below might not like it either.

Maybe you can use the low frequency sounds waves to break ice ;-)

"The fish below might not like it either."

Funny you say that.. I fish the Missouri river often and I can't tell you how many times we have gone an hour or more with no bites, being absolutely quiet and and trying to get some hard core fishing done.

After a while we say the heck with it and crack open some beers and turn up the tunes... It NEVER fails, fish ON!

Looks like a nice, clean install, Darren, well done as usual.

That's a whole mess of hardware and wiring, like adding another Darren and Darren's girl friend aboard. Should improve the ride in the chop a little!

That's one heck of a fish! Your boat is way to clean to tell me you dragged it into this boat. I am assuming you have another boat for fishing.

They are officially protected now.. Aluminum flying everywhere, they were way too tight to go over the subs the way I wanted…. Busted out the die grinder and the bit I used for the aluminum heads on the Chevelle and we are good to go now!

FWIW.. I’m NOT a big fan of the stupid design on the covers but they are damn near bullet proof so whatever…

Seriously thinking about taking them (the covers) back off and painting them with some white lacquer to keep the continuity in the theme… thoughts/opinions?

Well from where I sit in the Mid-Altantic I won't be able to tell the difference, although they sound great

I think you have already answered your own question, paint them. You just seem to be a very detailed person.

Auminum doesn't paint well. You'd need to get them powder coated and even that doesn't live forever. Your seat bases, seat posts, trim rings for lockers, and windshield are all aluminum aren't they? Do you have a bimini cover? If so are the mounts and poles ss? snaps? I'd bet you have far more exposed metal on your boat than you realize. Are you going to paint all that too? I'd leave them as is.

I'm glad you said that. It it were me I'd be inclined to paint them, and the ports, using a color close to that of the carpet. Is the aluminum only polished, or does it have a clear coating on it? Might wanna blast them, hit them with self etching primer, then the color.
