Default New floor in the galley maxum 3200scr

Yesterday we went to where our boat is stored and redid our galley floor. It took some time but me and my wife made it happen. In a couple more weeks we will go back and do the aft cabin. The floor is already out of it so it shouldn't be that bad. For the galley we had to pull up the floor- carpet and wood then scraped off the padding. I made a template of the floor to then cut out a new floor. From there we put down a new 1/4 inch marine grade plywood and glued it down and screwed it down in a few places. We found an access panel underneath the floor which was interesting. A piece of the wood holding up the panel door was loose so we reinforced it and closed it back up. Towards the aft cabin I had to made two separate pieces since it's a complicated little area. I centered the floor and began to lay the new one. Lots of cuts but it came out great! Well worth the 5 hours it took us to do it.

I will post pics shortly!

Good Job you two! Looks great! Question, how did you terminate the edge going into the aft cabin? Some sort of edge trim?

Keep up the good work.

I want to do this to my boat this year. I was considering real wood because it looks the best but afraid that it will scratch like the partial wood that came with the boat.

I was considering a product like Amtico flooring.

Has anyone done this?

Has your new real wood floor held up?

Question: Did your old hardwood floor run under the fridge and base cabinets?

It does on our boat and will be a pain to cut off without scaring the cabinets.

We didn't use real wood. I used a marine grade plywood as the base because the original flooring was never going to be smooth from the carpet they put down and we scraped the heck out of it to. We got off as much as we could and vacuumed it up afterward. I didn't use real wood for a couple reasons. It's heavy, expensive and will probably warp. I'm in the Midwest and the tempature is always changing out here. I used vinyl. It was easy to install and if worse comes to worse it will be easy to take out. The permateek is very very nice. I wanted a light color and something different. The permateek is expensive to. I believe at the boat show it was around ten dollars a square foot but don't quote me on that.

The piece of wood that was originally in my galley all came out in one piece it was beautiful! So easy to take out and the silicone glue they used to hold it down was pretty easy to scrape off compared to the carpet. It was not under any of my cabinets or appliances. I have a lot more pics to post I'll add it to my albums by the weekend.
